The Mark of the Deathless Pact

In a forgotten age, when gods still whispered to the earth and men dared to answer back, a secret order known as the Vigil of Thorns forged a pact to conquer death itself. They did not seek peace in the afterlife — they wanted dominion over it.

To seal their oath, they forged the Cross of the Damned from pure silver beneath a blood moon, binding it with rites stolen from graves and dreams. Etched into the cross were  the twin skulls — one to remember the living, the other to trap the dead.

At the base, a skeletal hand reaches outward — a warning, or perhaps an invitation — reminding all who gaze upon it that death is not an end, but a threshold.

The Vigil succeeded, in part. Their spirits could not pass on. But immortality came twisted. Bound to the very cross they had crafted, their minds rotted even as their souls endured. Now, their essence haunts every cursed monument like it, lashing out at any who dare invoke its forgotten power.

It’s said that anyone who stands too long in the shadow of the Cross of the Damned will begin to dream of their own death — not once, but again and again, as if trapped in a loop not yet lived. And when they finally die, their soul does not rise… it is claimed.
